The Kirin 9000s is faster than its three-year-old predecessor, but also much slower on the graphics side in the latest tests

The popular processor performance comparison site Nanoreview managed to get hold of the new Huawei Kirin 9000s chipset and put it in direct competition with its three-year-old predecessor, the Kirin 9000. The results revealed that the new chip is faster in tests, but at the same time much slower in graphics. tasks.

However, the tests also revealed that the new Kirin 9000s is also less efficient, allegedly due to its outdated architecture.

Its CPU part has a cluster with four TaiShan V120 cores, where the main one works at 2.62 GHz, and the remaining three at 2.15 GHz, as well as another cluster with four Cortex-A510 cores, where all four work at 1.53 GHz. The size of the transistor in this processor is 7 nm, which still means that Huawei, together with the SMIC factory, despite the sanctions, managed to provide an advanced production process on which it is made.

However, this architecture can be compared to the nearly three-year-old Kirin 9000 chip, which is based on a 5 nm manufacturing process. At the same time, this processor has four Cortex-A77 cores, the main one of which works at 3.13 GHz, and the other three at 2.54 GHz, as well as four more Cortex-A55 cores that work at a frequency of 2.05 GHz.
