“Grok” is a new AI chatbot that will access information on the Twitter (X) network in real time

One of Ilona Mask's numerous companies – xAI, the one dedicated to artificial intelligence, has launched a new AI chatbot on the market, which is still in beta, and is called “Grok”. As Mask announced, by having access to information from the Twitter (X) network in real time, and being capable of humor and sarcastic responses, it will differentiate itself from competitors in the form of AI bots such as ChatGPT, Bing and others.

Another feature of this chatbot is that it will be available to all subscribers of the highest Twitter Premium+ subscription, which costs $16 per month. It will be possible for them, as soon as the new AI chatbot comes out of the beta version, which is currently being tested by a selected group of users.

However, it is not clear who will be able to access this bot and whether it will include a free version with possibly limited capabilities. Also, it is currently still a mystery whether the condition for using the Grok artificial intelligence bot will be an active subscriber account on the social network Twitter or X, or those who want to use it will simply be able to pay a fee, without creating an X account.

The company's website says that Grok AI is modeled after Douglas Adams' book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and that it aims to answer almost anything and even “suggest questions to ask.” This chatbot also has a bit of a rebellious spirit with the humor it uses in its responses, so don't use it “if you hate humor”, says the xAI website.

The new AI chatbot is powered by the company's own large language model (LLM), called Grok-1, and has been under development for the past four months. Before him, the company trained the LLM prototype Grok-0 with 33 billion parameters, which approached the capabilities of the LLaMa 2 model by industry standards, but used only half of its training resources. In the past two months, the company xAI claims to have made significant improvements in inference and coding capabilities, which then led to a significantly more powerful Grok-1 model, which the company compares with rivals in a table by items.

The owner of the mentioned company, but also of the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, Ilon Mask shared on your profile this network a few screenshots showing part of the conversation with the Grok bot.

However, we will see how much it will be able to stand up to the main competitors such as OpenAI's ChatGPT after the release of the official Grok version. OpenAI is one of Musk's main competitors, not only because of the fact that it popularized artificial intelligence and changed the way it is used with its chatbot, but also because Musk was a co-founder of this company, but retired from it five years ago today.
