X – formerly Twitter is shutting down the Circles feature on October 31st
Social network X – formerly Twitter owned by Elon Musk, on October 31st, is canceling the Circles function, which allows the publication of content intended only for a selected circle of followers. This means that after this date, you will no longer be able to add accounts to your circles or create new posts limited to a close-knit group. However, you will still be able to remove people from the group if you don’t want certain accounts to see your old restricted posts.
The paper was published on X Support orderwhich handles support related to this application.
In April of this year, users discovered a flaw in the Circles feature that made posts limited to a certain number of people, but exposed them to outsiders. It turns out that the posts were exposed due to a security incident, which was just one of the technical problems the network has faced since Elon Musk bought it.
This feature normally disappears from the network shortly after its first birthday – it launched in August 2022. It’s similar to Instagram’s Close friends feature and gives people a way to share their thoughts with people they choose, rather than everyone who follows them.
Although X previously stated that during the feature’s testing period users posted much more through it than in standard posts, now it seems that the feature simply hasn’t gained enough interest to become an indispensable part of the app.
