The Latest Rumors, Product Predictions, and More on Apple’s iPhone 15

Apple's Annual Fall Event: What to Expect from the iPhone 15 Series

Apple's highly anticipated fall event is just weeks away, where they are set to unveil the next iPhone, unofficially referred to as the iPhone 15 series. While a foldable iPhone may not be expected yet, there are rumors circulating about significant design changes for the upcoming iPhones. Here are some of the biggest rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 series.

Will the iPhone 15 Get a USB-C Port?

One long-standing rumor suggests that Apple may finally make the switch from a Lightning Port to a USB-C port in 2023. This change is likely driven by the European Union's push for a common charging standard, with legislation requiring Apple to equip its iPhones with USB-C ports by 2024 if they want to sell them in the EU. It remains to be seen whether this change will apply to all iPhone models globally or just those sold in the EU.

iPhone 15 Design Changes: Slimmer Bezels and Upgraded Pro Models?

There are speculations that the iPhone 15 series will feature slimmer bezels, allowing for a slightly larger screen. Additionally, only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to receive USB-C ports this year, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. However, a complete transition to USB-C for all iPhones could happen in the next year with the iPhone 16.

Easier Repairability and Upgrades

The interiors of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are reportedly redesigned for easier repairability. The internal changes align them with the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models, which received similar upgrades last year. Apple seems to have focused on seamlessly integrating these changes into their iPhones.

Upgraded Features: Ultra Wideband and Wireless Charging

Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo suggests that the iPhone 15 will feature an upgraded Ultra Wideband processor, or U1 chip, to improve integration with the company's AR headset, the Vision Pro. Additionally, all iPhone 15 models may support 15-watt wireless charging using the Qi2 open standard, according to ChargerLab.

Camera Improvements and Solid-State Buttons

Kuo also predicts that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will introduce a periscope-style telephoto lens, allowing for higher optical zoom levels. There are also rumors of solid-state volume and power buttons for the iPhone 15 Pro models, similar to the home button found in previous iPhones. These buttons offer tactile feedback and protection against water ingress.

Possible Price Increase

After years of stable prices in the US, there are indications that the iPhone 15 prices may increase. Analysts suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro could see a $100 price hike compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, with the iPhone Pro Max potentially costing $100 to $200 more.

As we approach Apple's fall event in September, these rumors give us a glimpse of what we can expect from the iPhone 15 series.
