Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 better than A17 Pro in AnTuTu test
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 achieved better results in AnTuTu test than the best Apple mobile chip – A17 Pro. Meanwhile, AnTuTu recalls an official explanation from 2019 explaining why chipsets used by Android phones perform better in their tests than Apple chips.
The first preliminary results compare the performance of the iPhone 15 Pro Max phone with the A17 Pro, 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space with the OnePlus Ace 2 phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which has the same amount of storage available, but three times the processing power. memory.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 achieved a little more than 1.7 million points here, while the A17 Pro had a little more than 1.6 million points, and the differences are also visible in the individual tests: CPU, GPU, memory and UX, in which the Snapdragon dominates .
AnTuTu therefore reminds that Android and IOS versions use different APIs for GPU tests (OpenGL ES and Vulkan API for Android, and Metal API for iOS). The scenes rendered in the test are identical, but are drawn completely differently.
In addition, it is stated that there are obvious differences in the kernel and language used by iOS and Android, and that all this affects the tests and results, which are therefore significantly different. Therefore, AnTuTu says that the test results of these two platforms are simply not directly comparable on their test, and should not be used for that purpose.
