Firefox for Android gets over 400 new extensions in December

Mozilla it opens the door for extensions on your internet browser Firefox for Androidwith hundreds of new ones arriving in December.

Firefox for Android extensions will be available from 14.12.

In a blog post, Mozilla explains that Firefox add-ons that are compatible with Android will be “openly available” to users, with over 400 at launch, which will take place on December 14.

Technically, Firefox already supports extensions on Android. However, the library is a bit more limited, as Mozilla explains in detail on the support page. With this new update, Firefox users will have many more options, as developers will have a path to port desktop extensions to the Android operating system.

Mozilla has even online workshop on how to develop and/or port your extensions.

Also, Mozilla explains that it will be redesigning the plugin library to better showcase the new options, and you can see many of the upcoming plugins on that page.

The blog post also states:Ahead of the launch of Open Plugins on Android, we've added an “Explore All Android Plugins” link to the Android page AMO to easily discover new content. And just for fun and to give you a taste of what's to come, we've also released a few dozen new open source Android plugins. You can find them listed under the Recommended Plugins collection on that AMO Android page.
