ChatGPT gets the ability to create videos in the future, misinformation is waiting

The internet and the people who use it may not be ready for the fact that ChatGPT is getting the ability or rather the power to create videos in the near future, but the disinformation definitely is. CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman pointed to the multimodality of ChatGPT's bot, i.e. its ability to work with text, images, sound and “eventually video”, as a key upgrade of its functions.

In a podcast with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Altman pointed out that the company's plan is to implement the function of creating videos in ChatGPT within one or two years at the most.

While he didn't go into too much detail about what exactly this feature will look like, it will undoubtedly work on similar principles to the image creation capabilities that ChatGPT (via the DALL-E model) already offers: just enter a few lines of text as a query to the bot, and then you get AI-generated image based on that description.

When we get to the stage where you can search for any video you want, on any topic you want, we can expect a flood of fake information in the guise of videos on the Internet, the so-called “deepfake”, literally deeply fake content. It is certain that a certain number of recordings will be made for entertainment and creativity, but it is also certain that many of them will be intended to spread misinformation and propaganda activities.

“Deepfake” videos are already a problem in the age of mass use of social networks, and with the introduction of video generation on a planetary popular AI bot, this problem will only get worse.

The US, for example, has a presidential election this year, and a general election in the UK is also likely at some point in 2024. With fake videos circulating online of politicians saying things they never said, there is a real danger of false information spreading rapidly online.

Given that it is becoming more and more difficult to recognize content generated by artificial intelligence on the Internet, we need to increase our vigilance and level of trust in the content that is posted so that we do not fall into delusions.
